Today was the first meeting of the year for the Presbytery of Boise. As Stated Clerk for the presbytery I will confess I love the job, well most of the time. But that is beside the point. Presbytery day is filled with uplifting worship and music, thoughtful discussion often on difficult topics, challenge to ever expand the ministry and mission of our congregations and the presbytery, and time to catch up with friends.
Right now in the Presbyterian Church (USA) there is some significant strife and conflict which seems to get the press. Unfortunately angry and fearful words often overshadow the incredible ministry and mission outreach of our individual congregations. It always confounds me that each church can be so faithful to the Lord, working for the fullness of the Kingdom AND the denomination is still in strife. It just doesn't add up. If we could only celebrate and build on the work being accomplished I believe we would realize that our differences are really minor while our commitment to God is major. We are really not so different.

The Presbyterian Church is my home and my family. It is not perfect by far but the Church is constantly seeking to do God's will and to spread the Good News in the world today. Thanks for being part of my life in the church and my journey of faith. And thanks for paying attention to the Spirit!
